Mercy is defined in the dictionary as the act of showing kindness, forgiveness, or compassion to someone, especially when you have the power to punish or judge them. In a more biblical sense, mercy refers to God's love and forgiveness toward us, even when we don’t deserve it. It is a quality Jesus showed every day, especially when He laid His life and paid the price to redeem us. He showed compassion instead of anger or judgment.
Mercy is a beautiful gift we Warriors can show others. Here are a few examples:
1. Forgiving a Friend – Letting go when someone says something mean or makes a mistake.
2. Helping Someone in Need – Giving a toy, snack, or helping carry something when they need it.
3. Being Patient – Waiting your turn without getting angry when someone is slow or forgets.
4. Comforting Someone – Hugging or speaking kindly to a friend who is sad or scared.
5. Sharing – Letting someone use your favorite crayon, toy, or game, even if you want it yourself.
6. Praying for Others – Asking God to help people who are sick, lonely, or hurting.
7. Saying Kind Words – Telling someone “It’s okay” or “I forgive you” when they feel bad.
8. Helping Without Being Asked – Cleaning up, helping a classmate, or doing a kind act without needing praise.
9. Standing Up for Someone – Being a friend to someone who’s being treated unfairly or left out.
10. Being Understanding – Giving someone a second chance when they make a mistake.
When we show mercy, we are honoring Jesus’ mercy toward us. Jesus is the ultimate example of mercy. He forgave, healed, and loved unconditionally, even His enemies and those who hurt Him. When we model Christ's mercy, we reflect Jesus’ heart and help others see God’s mercy through us. Today, I invite you to thank God for His everyday mercies and honor Him by sharing that mercy with others every day.
